As
land rises, after the ice age ended, all the ice means less weight on
land, the oceans appear to recede. Sometimes land can be rigid enough to dip down on the opposite side to the lifting, as in Eastern England. Generally, mountains are still rising as they had ice on them. Flat lend is more likely to be falling, relative to past elevation.
All these adjustments mean
earthquakes. Spread over thousands of years, they are small.
We get
extra water from the interior of the earth which then settles down, as the space occupied by the water is filled with the substrate supporting the land.
Often, water comes up as steam or mud.
We also get more water from the Sun.
Proton stream hits the poles, guided there by the magnetic field. They
create an ozone hole, as they take O atoms to make H2O. Sea levels are
complex as they also involve land levels!
